During my internship at Ollari, I conducted sourcing across different parts of Delhi to understand materials at their point of origin and production. Visiting workshops and markets allowed me to observe how materials are made, handled, and finished. This process helped me develop a deeper material sensibility, enabling informed design decisions and a stronger connection between concept, craft, and final product within my design practice.

As part of the elective course Let’s Clay at The Design Village, I explored pottery as a tactile and meditative craft through hands-on wheel work and form-building techniques. Under guided mentorship, I engaged with clay as a responsive material, learning the fundamentals of balance, proportion, and surface detailing. The process encouraged patience, observation, and intuitive making, allowing me to discover pottery as a new creative medium beyond textiles. This experience offered fresh perspectives on form, material behavior, and craftsmanship, inspiring me to translate these learnings into thoughtful design explorations across disciplines.

WORKSHOP BY ABCD IGNCA AVANI EARTHCRAFT

I attended a Natural Dye Workshop at the historic Red Fort, where I explored traditional dyeing processes using natural sources. The session offered in-depth insights into pigment behavior, material interaction, and traceability, highlighting how each natural dye responds uniquely to different surfaces. This experience deepened my understanding of sustainability and reinforced the importance of nature-led practices in textile traditions. Observing how pigments carry cultural narratives while producing unexpected yet organic results was especially enriching. The workshop strengthened my interest in integrating natural dyes and sustainable techniques into contemporary textile design, encouraging further experimentation while preserving and reinterpreting traditional craft knowledge.
